Configure
The configuration tool is used to specify the location of the programs
used by DVD/CD Toys and to setup other tools of DVD/CD Toys.
- Settings
- Recorder
- Use buffer size, MB
- Defines the memory capacity that DVD/CD Toys uses as a RAM buffer.
This buffer is a second memory that enhances the physical buffer in
the recorder. The large buffer size can reduce the chances of buffer
underrun and improve the quality of the burnt disk.
- Enable using BURN-Free technology
- This option turns on the buffer underrun protection during
data recording. This prevents decay of the recoded media when
data cannot be read at speed required for a contiguous recording.
Burning will stop and start again once the data are received. This
option should always be turned on excepted for the recorders that
do not support BURN-Free technology. Most recorders manufactured
after 2001 support BURN-Free technology in one way or another.
Despite this technology allows you not to get concerned with
devastation of the recording buffer, keep in mind the fact that
burning a DVD disk at a 12X speed requires a data stream at a speed
at least 17 MB/sec and that active usage of this technology reduces
the quality of the burnt disk. That's why the best solution is to
lower the writing speed if the computer is planned to be used during
the burning or if the data will be read from a slow source (e.g. network).
- Filesystem
- ISO Level 1
- Sets the level of compatibility to standard ISO9660 filesystem for the
image creation or the disk burning. The 1st level corresponds to the
older and most widely used version of the standard. Filenames will be
converted and will contain only upper case latin letters, numbers and
underscore. The length of a filename will be truncated to 8 characters,
and its extension to 3 characters. The size of the file cannot exceed 4
GB. This level should be used in case when recorded disk is to be used
on operating systems or hardware, which do not support more recent
versions of the ISO9660 standard.
- ISO Level 2
- It matches to level 1 excepted for one thing - maximal filename size
is increased to 31 characters.
- ISO Level 3
- In addition to level 2 it allows to use lower letters and other symbols
in filenames. Besides that, it allows the recording of files with size
exceeding 4GB. This is the level recommended for OS/2 and eComStation.
- Generate Joliet directory records
- Turns on the creation of information using the Joliet standard in
addition to ISO9660. This is useful when filenames contain national
symbols if the disk is to be used in Windows, OS/2, or eComStation.
Warning: To be able to use Joliet information in OS/2
or eComStation the /W parameter has to be specified to the compact
disk filesystem driver CDFS.IFS.
- Directory used to hold temporary files
The directory in which there will be temporary files is necessary for
DVD/CD Toys operations. On a disk where this directory is located, there
should be a lot of space and its file system should support long
file names. If the standard system temporary directory does not respond
this requirement, it is possible to specify other directory by pressing
the button Select....
- Tools
- Location of the CDRECORD.EXE
- Location of the READCD.EXE
- Location of the CDDA2WAV.EXE
- Location of the MKISOFS.EXE
- DVD/CD Toys is a graphical interface to CDRTools. Thus it is necessary
to specify the location of the programs from this package by pressing
the button Select..., located near by the description of each
program.
- Trace tools output
- This option opens a window, which will contain all the messages
generated by the programs used by DVD/CD Toys. Message tracing might be
useful for the observation of DVD/CD Toys activity and for collecting
information before contacting the support.
Warning: This option does not affect the tools already
launched by DVD/CD Toy. Program needs to be restarted to change the
trace mode in this case.
