The development of OS/2 was performed by commercial companies. money is the fuel. the goal - to earn money.

eComStation: Significant part of money was coming from the sponsors.

On the other side: major part of new OS/2 applications are based on open-source modules.

"One man, no man"

Building an Operating System - it's a huge project. it's like building a real City (build houses, dig flowers garden, etc). Thousands of people are going this in the city.

Conclusion: Standalone developer is unable to create something. Always join a group, interact with other developers. Moreover, interace with all other "characters" (managers, resellers, Active users, ..)

Unique OS/2 User Interface

OS/2 is diffrent from other systems thanks to unique User Interface.

eCo Software was the leading developer of modules for eComStation 2.0

Install english version of ArcaOS. Install LIP package with russian resources

eCo Software is working on russian version of OS/2 since 2001.

USB Flash in OS/2

OS/2 doesn't support Windows USB FAT32 flash disks. You should re-format USB flash disk in OS/2 to FAT32. After this you can use this USB flash in Windows AND OS/2.

You can't stop time flow..

When UEFI and other barriers appeared, we said: it's not important what is changing in the computers. You can always install OS/2 to Used Core 2 Duo PC.

Time goes and we see that OS/2 must support new models of computers because old generations are not available. don't fit the requirements.

Web-browsers in OS/2

WebExplorer web-browser was integrated to OS/2 Warp in 1994

DOS works again

ArcaOS 5.1.1:

DOS virtual machine works again (it was working on Core 2 Duo, and didn't for i5). Install ArcaOS in UEFI mode to use DOS VM.

Web-browser is the source of life

Currently we don't have good web-browser in OS/2.

Wizard is designing for OS/2 since 2004.

Joachim was working in Mensys BV since 90-th. and was managing eComStation development. Later, in ~ 2015 Mensys couldn't continue the development. Joachim doesn't participate in chats or projects currently.
